Guiomar Ortiz García is a pianist, composer, and educator originally from Madrid, Spain, currently based in New York. She is pursuing a Master of Music in Composition at the Manhattan School of Music, where she is a recipient of the prestigious David Rose Award for Composition (2024–2026).
Guiomar’s artistic work spans concert music, film scoring, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her compositions have received international recognition, including First Prize at the Vienna Classical Music Academy Composition Competition, the Absolute Prize at the Beethovinci International Composition Competition, and the Gold Prize at the World Classical Music Awards. Most recently, she was awarded First Prize in Contemporary Piano Composition at the Fidelio Piano Composition Competition (2025).
As a composer, she has created original soundtracks for films, theater productions, dance performances, and art exhibitions, collaborating with artists and institutions across Europe and the United States. Her work has been featured in international film festivals and multidisciplinary performances, reflecting a strong interest in storytelling through music.
In addition to her compositional career, Guiomar is an accomplished pianist with extensive chamber and ensemble experience. She has performed throughout Europe in venues such as the Mozarthaus in Vienna, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, and various international festivals. She is also an active collaborative pianist, working with choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists in both educational and professional settings.
As an educator, Guiomar has been teaching since 2016, covering subjects including piano, harmony, composition, improvisation, and music analysis. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creativity, musical understanding, and technical development, aiming to inspire students to become well-rounded and expressive musicians.
