  • Kayoung An, piano


    Multi-award-winning pianist Kayoung An has performed as a soloist and chamber music artist at prominent halls such as Carnegie Hall, SummerStage, Bruno Walter Auditorium, Seoul Art Center, and Chicago Cultural Center. She has also performed for broadcasts on WFMT Chicago, KBS Classic FM, KBS-TV, WBFY Belfast Radio, and YourTV Ontario, Canada. Kayoung An toured in Korea with Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie in 2017 and appeared on stage with renowned orchestras such as the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonians, Amadeo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bar Harbor Festival String Orchestra, Morning Heights Chamber Orchestra, and Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few.

    Dr. Kayoung An received a doctorate in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where she worked with Marc Silverman and Solomon Mikowsky. She also holds degrees from New England Conservatory, Colburn Conservatory, and Cleveland Institute of Music, where she worked with Sergei Babayan, Ory Shihor, Kathryn Brown, and Alexander Korsantia.

  • Qianwen Shen, violin


    Violinist Qianwen Shen has joined The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in the 2019 Season. As an orchestra musician, Ms. Shen has been seen in performances with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Montclair Orchestra. Ms. Shen has served concertmaster, Principal Second, and other leadership positions for the New World Symphony, New England Conservatory Philharmonic Orchestra, Mannes School of Music, and Tanglewood Music Center. She has performed with the musicians from Cleveland Quartet, Emerson Quartet, Julliard Quartet, Takacs Quartet, and Peabody Trio.

    Her principal teachers have included Lei Fang, Donald Weilerstein, and David Chan. Ms. Shen received her bachelor of music degree from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, master of music degree and graduate diploma from New England Conservatory, professional study diploma from Mannes School of Music.

  • Zara Lawler, flute


    A recognized leader in the emerging field of interdisciplinary performance, flutist Zara Lawler, “an engaging, fluent, mellifluous soloist” (Houston Chronicle), made her concerto debut with the Houston Symphony and her recital debut at New York’s Merkin Concert Hall. She has collaborated with choreographers, composers and stage directors to create new and adventurous concert experiences.

    Lawler has appeared as a soloist with the Houston Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic and given solo recitals in New York, Santa Barbara, Hong Kong, and throughout the Midwest. She spent two summers at the Marlboro School of Music and has been a guest artist with eighth blackbird.

    Lawler earned her master’s degree from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Carol Wincenc and Sam Baron. Among competitions she has won are the Ima Hogg Young Artist Competition, Artists’ International, and the New York Flute Club. She has performed at Tanglewood, Banff Festival of the Arts, Bach Aria Festival and Institute, and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
