Qianli (Charlie) Chen
Piano
Qianli Chen, pianist, has won numerous awards, including the Bronze Medal at the 2023 Wideman International Piano Competition, First Prize at the 2022 Arthur Dann Piano Competition, and First Prize at the 2019 Irmler International Piano Competition.
He has performed internationally in China, the U.S., Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium. Praised by YAMAHA News for his “exceptional virtuosity” and thoughtful musical interpretation, Qianli’s repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary works, including underrepresented composers.
He serves as a teaching assistant in the Juilliard Extension Division and on faculty at the Cenya International Piano Academy in China. Born in Fuzhou, he began piano at four, studied at Oberlin (BM) with Robert Shannon, and earned his Master’s at Juilliard with Shai Wosner and Sir Stephen Hough. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University.
